link this to the platform it was used on and wide marketing

3d - The film industry markets a film through the use of the soundtrack to appeal to the audience. This creates a wider appeal at audiences as it uses a different platform to interest the audience. An example of this can be seen in No Time To Die through the use of Billie Eilish who released the title track for the film. As an already established artist with a younger audience  she created wider appeal to the audience. In addition in the weeks prior to the release of the film Bauer Radio dedicated a whole station to Bond music over the years. This wide marketing of Bond music meant that the film was further promoted to an audience that may not have accessed the other marketing material. Those who are attracted to the new music or at the nostalgic element of the previous Bond music were targeted through the use of soundtracks past and present.

                                          Audience Appeal

LO - To explore the Uses and Gratification theory of film

Uses and Gratification Theory

Personal identity

Information

Entertainment

Social Interaction

Personal identity

media products allow audiences to find role models and other people with similar values.

use of media to reinforce personal values by coming closer to similar and desired people/ products.

Information

any information can be learned through different forms of media.

media allows the audience to gain an insight into other peoples lives.

The media keeps people informed with current events.

Entertainment

use of media to escape the humdrum of their boring everyday lives.

access media forms to forget about worries and troubles for a while ( escapism).

Social Interaction

the ability of media products to produce a topic of conversation between other people.

media products allow the audience to break down barriers of time and distance to communicate with others.

The theory of Uses and Gratification Theory identified entertainment as appealing to the gaming audience as they are able to achieve escapism and be anyone they want to be. An example is Fortnite as the goal is to be the last one alive and eliminate all other opponents. This adds intrigue and therefore entertainment to the individual.  Many audiences use gaming - like playing Fortnite to entertain themselves.

blue - example
green - link

No Time To Die offers social interaction - from the Uses and Gratification theory as it opens up conversation between friends about if they like or dislike it. Another example is online fan groups or videos dedicated to express their opinions. This promotes communication.

Marketing Methods
film posters - information, entertainment
film trailers - information, entertainment
website = information, social interaction
merchandise = Personal Identity
billboards ( bus stops/ buses) - information
sponsorship = entertainment

- Information - about who played in the film, directed and a summary

- information about scenes, entertainment.

- Information about the characters, Personal Identity, for relating to a character.

The theory of Uses and Gratification identified Entertainment as appeal to the audience as they may like the action packed scenes that help them escape reality. We see this through the craziness of car chases, explosions and gunfights that are prevalent in NTTD. This shows the theory of Entertainment in the U and G applies to the NTTD trailer because people enjoy and are interested in it.
